Meetings

We get together in various ways

Meetings

The CTPSPG organises monthly meetings which usually take place on the last Thursday of the month. We generally use these reading groups to think about and discuss practical, theoretical, and clinical issues based on an assigned reading. Sometimes they are held in person at the Athenaeum in Newlands, and sometimes on Zoom.

We also have an annual half-day Ethics workshop, as well as occasional seminars, lectures, workshops and presentations of original papers, often presented by a colleague from overseas.

For Members only:

Reading Groups

Most members belong to one or more of our smaller reading groups, which usually meet monthly. Many of these are long-standing, close-knit groups, and have been described as the ‘heart’ of the CTPSPG. They function largely independently and choose their own course of reading, while the CTPSPG tracks their attendance and content for CPD purposes. Mentorship can be requested to assist new reading groups or to guide existing reading groups with challenges they may be experiencing with their readings or discussions.

We also have a special, focused reading group which is designed as an introduction to the fundamentals of psychoanalytic Self Psychology and Intersubjectivity Systems Theory. This group is a valuable orientation to the CTPSPG for newer members, but can also be a refresher for seasoned members. It takes place when there are sufficient participants.
