Judy Grant

I am a clinical psychologist, a member of the Cape Town Psychoanalytic Self Psychology Group and Member of the South African Psychoanalytic Confederation.  I am a psychoanalytic couple psychotherapist and have a post grad certificate in psychoanalytic self and relational psychology.

I have been in private practice a number of years and previous to private practice I completed community service at the Red Cross Child and Adolescent Unit and thereafter worked as a school psychologist where I enjoyed working as part of an inter-disciplinary team.

My practice is situated in a lovely Victorian house in a quiet road near Palmyra Junction and Cavendish Square, on the Jammie shuttle route and close to the train station.  There is plenty of parking right outside and a comfortable waiting room.

I have a special interest in attachment, parent-child relationships, parenting and child development in general.   An aim of both short term and long term therapy is to help clients make sense of the thing that disrupts or blocks continued growth and development.

I am warm and gentle in my approach and believe that therapy must take place within a non-threatening background of professional integrity, safety and trust.  I conduct a thorough assessment and discuss the outcome in detail with my client so that all recommendations and options be available for consideration.

Through attunded empathic listening and exploration I help my client make sense of their life and self.  Discovering self and making personal sense of things within the context of a genuine and warm relationship leads to change and renewed growth.
