Ilse Ahrends

Ilse Ahrends

I have 15 years’ experience of working with survivors of intimate partner and gender-based violence (also known as domestic violence), accompanying them as they dealt with trauma, depression, anxiety and issues of self-image and self- confidence. My clients have taught me how much the provision of a safe space, careful, empathic listening and the willingness of both client and therapist to work together in a trusting relationship, can facilitate the process of healing.

My practice however, is not restricted to this sector. I work with adults generally, who are wanting to talk to someone in confidence about what is distressing them, or who want to get to know themselves better so that they can feel more integrated and whole in themselves and in their world.
