Thembelihle Dube

I completed my B.Psych Hons at Wits University in 2005 and my Masters in Community Counselling and Clinical Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch in 2011. I was trained to offer services to children, adolescents and adults.

My training offered me insight and practical exposure into psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Family Systems Theory and it touched on Emotionally Focused Couple's Therapy as well as Solution Focused Brief Therapy.

A significant part of my training focused on work within the community in a township -Kayamandi, Stellenbosch where I was part of a project the Kayamandi Project supervised by Prof. Tony Naidoo. We offered support to learners at the two high schools in Kayamandi and I initiated the provision of psychological services at the Kayamandi Clinic. In that year we also facilitated an Open Day at both the schools in Kayamandi to spur discussions with Grade 11 and 12 learners on their plans post-Matric.

My training also helped me learn how to administer assessments (intellectual, personality functioning etc), write reports, conduct research, carry out programme design and evaluation.

I completed my internship at Fort Napier Hospital in 2012 and am due to complete my community service year which I am currently undergoing at the Khayelitsha District Hospital in January 2014.
